Returning Water to Schoolchildren in Didro

After a stormy night of rains and high winds, we headed west out of Dano to a remote village two hours away. On the way, we had to clear the road three times because of fallen trees. As we reached Didro the sun shone brillantly above. Our destination was a primary school which had a broken pump. For the last seven months school children have carried dirty water from an open hand dug well 1.5 KM on their heads to have water to drink. The Lord blessed us with a smooth rehab. After removing the old pump, we soon were testing the water recharge rate with a submersible pump and, of course, having a little fun with water on a hot day. After installing the new materials clean, fresh water was flowing again much to the joy and amazement of everyone there, the school director, teachers and children.
Since the noon day sun was getting so hot, we retreated to the shade of a nearby tree. There I told a short parable about a young child's search for happiness and how he found it in the story of the cross of Christ. What a blessed day, all made possible by our Great God, our donors and our partners. And the best part is yet to come when we return to Didro on Sunday to gather with the Lord's people and celebrate what He has done. The director of the school invited all the children to attend the church Sunday morning so we have a big children's program prepared. It ought to be great!
I only wish I could have shared this rehab with some of you. Man, I love this job! Blessed, Geoffrey
